We are on a mission. To climb a mountain, for kids. To live out our passion for youth, the outdoors, and the people who have -- and continue to -- inspire us to do the work we do, and be the people we are.
More specifically, to raise $15,000 for Bay Area Wilderness Training [BAWT].
The cause. BAWT is an amazing organization, and community, that supplies training AND gear to empower teachers and youth workers who lead kids outdoors.
Some inspiration. This climb is being dedicated to Greg Lawrence Walker, a friend of Shane’s. Greg lost his life on Orizaba 10 years ago. He affected all who knew him, with an incredible smile and a blinding light from within.
The climb also falls 10 days before Kristy’s 30th birthday. This will undoubtedly be the hardest challenge she has ever attempted. Ever. [It's significance transcending the physical endeavor.]
These are the bigger mountains also calling us to climb, calling us to action.
We are ateam. Kristy met Shane on her very first program as an outdoor educator in 2001. Little did we know [or at least Kristy], our paths would weave in and out of each other’s lives at transitional, transformative junctures in our lives. In beautiful and powerful ways.
It seems only kismet, that life, and the universe, would unite us once again, to complete this journey together.
